Hallux valgus is a complex multiplanar deformity, due to various extrinsic and intrinsic causes, with a prevalence of between 23% and 36%. There are many surgical corrective options, from proximal to distal (see Table 1). Common adjuvant procedures include the Akin osteotomy and lateral soft tissue releases.
